Flood risk data
Our flood risk data is freely available on the Defra Data Services Platform (DSP) via the following links:
Risk of Flooding from Surface Water – Speed – Climate Change 1
Risk of Flooding from Surface Water – Hazard – Climate Change 1
Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea - Key Summary Information
Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea - Properties in Areas at Risk
Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea - Postcodes in Areas at Risk
Risk of Flooding from Surface Water - Key Summary Information
Rivers and Sea defended and undefended flood risk extents – Present day
Rivers and Sea defended and undefended flood risk extents – Climate change
Rivers and Sea 3.3% defended flood risk extents – Present day
Rivers and Sea 3.3% defended flood risk extents – Climate change
Spatial datasets are available as open data via WMS feeds. The scale display has been set to 1:50 000 – users will need to zoom to this scale to view the data. Please see our FAQ on displaying the data if you have any issues. The Flood Map for Planning datasets and ‘Rivers and Sea flood risk extents’ datasets are also available via WFS and OGC feeds.
The datasets are also available for download. National coverage of the Flood Map for Planning datasets and ‘Rivers and Sea flood risk extents’ datasets are available for download in geodatabase format in compressed zip files. Users will be able to download areas of interest, by accessing the link to ‘Download data by area of interest’. Note that the area of data you can download will be determined by the feature density and total number of features of the layer(s) requested. Where the request exceeds the limits of these services, due to the complexity of these datasets, users will be prompted to complete a ‘Large Data Download’ request. Risk of Flooding from Rivers and Sea and Risk of Flooding from Surface Water data is available through a SFTP. See our FAQ on downloading the data.
Coastal erosion risk data
The coastal erosion risk data we publish on Shoreline Management Plan Explorer and Explore Coastal Erosion Risk is free to download on the Defra Data Services Platform as open data via the following links:
The Coastal Erosion Risk Map datasets are also available via WMS, WFS and OGC feeds. See our FAQ on using our coastal erosion risk data.
