Lineage

Future public water supply needs were estimated across a range of potential future scenarios using the EA's National Framework water resources supply demand model. To calculate this, the model uses both internally calculated data (volumes of water required for climate change and environmental improvements for specific scenarios) and third party data. Third party data includes water company water resource management plan 2024 (WRMP24) datasets that are publicly available online as well as additional data provided by water companies for use in the water resource modelling. This include data at water resource zone scale on volumes of water required for climate change and environmental improvements as well as additional population forecasts. Public water supply demands (supply demand balance) are presented at national (England only), water resources regional group and water company water resource zone scale. Public water supply demands for Water Resources West include relevant Welsh water resource zones.
