Summary
Table showing number of passive surveillance reports on BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) in Cattle since 1988, giving an overview of passive surveillance and the outcomes. The table covers number of suspects restricted under suspicion of BSE; number of restrictions lifted; how many cattle were slaughtered; the outcome and number of cattle testing negative and confirmed positive for BSE. The data set includes the following fields: Year (of surveillance); Suspects restricted (number of suspect animals where movements have been restricted); Restrictions lifted due to alternative diagnosis; Slaughter not yet notified (not yet slaughtered); Suspects known to have been slaughtered; Slaughtered suspects with outcome pending (awaiting results); Slaughtered suspects in which BSE not confirmed (a negative BSE result); Slaughtered suspects in which BSE confirmed (BSE positive result); Private submissions in which BSE confirmed (where a private submission has been submitted to the laboratory and is BSE positive).
