National Framework for Water Resources: Amount of water that potential water resource options could provide
Summary
Amount of water (Ml/d) that potential water resource options could provide to solve the water needs problem at a national, regional water resource group and water company water resource zone scale in the 2050s under a range of National Framework modelling scenarios (Do Nothing, Low, Central and High)

Lineage
Amount of water (Ml/d) that water resource options could provide is calculated using internally calculated data and third party data. Internally calculated data is from the EA's National Framework water resources supply demand model - an estimate of the volumes provided through reducing leakage, water efficiency i.e. reducing consumption under a range of modelled future scenarios). Third party data includes water company water resource management plan 2024 (WRMP24) datasets that are publicly available online as well as additional data provided by water companies for use in the water resource modelling. This include data at water resource zone scale on volumes of water provided by supply and transfers (reservoirs, transfers, new abstraction, desalination etc) and volumes of water provided through drought measures (drought options, temporary use bans etc). Water provided by options are presented at national (England only), water resources regional group and water company water resource zone scale. Options for Water Resources West include relevant Welsh water resource zones.
