The purpose of this study was to test for causal evidence of ecological restoration following the introduction of large woody debris in rivers.

- Chlorophyll-a and diatom community structure was estimated from stone scrapes; a Hess sampler (0.017m2) with 335µm mesh was used to collect invertebrates and coarse (CPOM) and fine particulate organic matter (FPOM); fish estimates were based on depletion electrofishing; habitat estimates were made using a bathyscope across a grid of fifteen 1 m2 quadrats divided between five equally spaced transects per reach.
